THREE hotels in Northern Ireland have been ranked among the best in the UK, while a Co Clare venue has been named the best spot for catching some sleep.
Belfast hotel, Tara Lodge, featured in the top 20 best hotels in the UK in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Best of the Best Hotel Awards.
It comes after Tripadvisor analysis of reviews of 1.5 million properties across the world.
Ardtara Country House, Upperlands, near Maghera was named number three best small hotel in the UK and 18th best in Europe, while Me & Mr. Jones in Portstewart, came 24th in the UK.
Dromoland Castle Hotel in Co Clare was ranked top in the 'Best Hotels for Sleep' category.
Tripadvisor said "for travellers seeking out sweet dreams, Dromoland Castle Hotel in Ireland, is rated No. 1 in the world in this inaugural category".
"Welcoming guests since the 16th century, this grand hotel is tucked away in 450 acres of land - the perfect secluded spot for catching some ZZZs," it added.
It comes after the 16th-century castle hotel recently completed the final phase of a €20-million refurbishment.
Tripadvisor analysed review data of hotels from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 from over 1.5 million hotels across 10 categories.
For the third year in a row, The Toulson Court in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, was named World's Best B&B, with over 2,000 'excellent' reviews on the site.
The Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, India was the global top hotel, followed by Ozen Reserve Bolifushi in the Maldives; Hotel Colline de France in Gramado, Brazil and Shangri-La The Shard, London.
Sarah Firshein from Tripadvisor, said: “It’s clear that our community ventured far and wide in the last year: our 10 winning subcategories encompass 37 regions around the world and include a wide range of amazing places to stay.
“An opulent palace in Jaipur topped the charts, while hotels ranging from a ‘glamping’ retreat in Patagonia to a rock ‘n’ roll–themed boutique in Boston made their mark as well.
"As our savvy reviewers know, hotels can sometimes be the entire reason for the trip—I’m personally very excited to consult this list as I plot out the next year of holidays with my own family.”
