Family of Glenavy road crash victim Jordan Nixon 'absolutely heartbroken'

THE family of a talented offroad motorcyclist killed in a weekend road tragedy have spoken of their heartbreak.

Jordan Nixon died after being struck by a vehicle in the Moira Road area of Glenavy on Friday night.

The PSNI said the 22 year-old died after a collision between a Volvo XC90 car and a pedestrian shortly after 10.50pm.

In a statement, police said: “Officers, along with colleagues from other emergency services attended. Sadly, Mr Nixon died at the scene.”

The 22-year-old, who was from Moira area, was well known within the north’s biking fraternity.

In a social media post on Saturday, Mr Nixon’s mother Irene said she was “absolutely heartbroken” by the loss.

“Last night I lost my beautiful son Jordan… Just can't believe he's gone. We will miss him so much.”

Lisburn & District Motorcycle Club also paid tribute to the Moira man: “It is with greatest sadness and heavy hearts that we as a club have to write another post like this with the sudden passing of young Jordan Nixon.

“Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the Nixon family. RIP wee Jordy.”

A statement from the Co Down-based motorcycle trials club, Moto Trial NI, said: “Moto Trial NI would like to express our sincere condolences to the whole Nixon family on the tragic and untimely passing of Jordan.

"We are devastated for you all at this sad, sad time. Thoughts and prayers to you all from all the members of Moto Trial.”

The PSNI has appealed for anyone with information about the road tragedy to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “A full investigation is underway and we are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the Moira Road area around this time and date, and who has dash-cam footage, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.”
