A MAN has been arrested by police investigating a robbery at a jewellery store in a Newtownabbey shopping centre.

The theft happened at the outlet in the Abbeycentre shopping centre on the morning of January 10 when a man entered the premises and asked to see a ring.

The man snatched the ring and attacked the female staff member, who was left with facial injuries.

A PSNI spokesperson said a 26-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of robbery and assault.

He remained in police custody last night assisting with enquiries.

"Our investigation continues and we would reiterate our appeal to anyone who has any information or who witnessed the robbery, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 386 of 10/01/23," the spokesperson added.
