THE family of a Co Tyrone man who died suddenly on Monday has suffered a double blow after his grandmother passed away yesterday.

The death of Michael Morgan in Coalisland has stunned the tight-knit local community.

Aged in his 20s, he became unwell while at work at Newell Stores in the village. His funeral is due to take place this morning.

It has now emerged that his grandmother Margaret Fox also passed away yesterday morning surrounded by family members.

Believed to be aged in her 70s, Ms Fox was originally from the Coalisland area.

Her former daughter-in-law, Aontú councillor Denise Mullen, described her as a "lovely woman" and "deeply religious".

"It's really sad for the family, it's an awful shock," she said.

"We are all devastated."

The death of Ms Fox's grandson shocked the Coalisland area earlier this week.

Local SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn last night said his sympathies are with those who knew Mr Morgan.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the Michaels family and friends," he said.

"This is another death that has rocked the community here in Coalisland.

"Michael was well-known in the town and very well thought off and that can be seen in the messages on social media about him."

The local GAA community has also expressed its shock at Mr Morgan's untimely death.

His father Patrick is a former player with Brackaville GFC, and the club last night said on social media it was "saddened" by his passing.

Edendork GAC, which is near Dungannon, said on Facebook that it is also "shocked and saddened".

Requiem Mass for Mr Morgan will take place at St Mary and Joseph’s Church, Brackaville, at 10am with interment taking place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
