A DERRY city centre bar has named as the north's best pub.

Located on the Diamond, Granny Annie's secured the regional accolade at the annual UK-wide National Pub and Bar Awards – the Oscars of the licensed trade.

Other commended pubs from the north included the Speckled Hen in Derriaghy, Co Antrim, the Courthouse Bar in Lurgan, the Dundrum Inn in Co Down, the Crowes Nest in Enniskillen and Tomney’s in Moy, Co Tyrone.

The Frogmill in the English village of Shipton Oliffe in the Cotswolds was crowned the overall winner.

Granny Annie's also has outlets in Belfast and Enniskillen.

The bars were previously part of the JD Wetherspoon' empire before being sold to Limavady brothers Willis and Ryan McLaughlin in 2016.
