TV presenter Colin Murray is set to temporarily host Countdown after Anne Robinson quit the show suddenly.

The Dundonald native is expected to present the popular game show until the end of this year.

Ms Robinson confirmed last month she was stepping down from the Channel 4 programme.

It has been reported that Mr Murray has already started filming episodes of the game show.

In 2021 he presented 33 episodes of the programme when then-host Nick Hewer was shielding due to the pandemic.

A Channel 4 source said: "Colin has agreed to be a stand-in host for us, which is brilliant news.

"No-one knows what is going to happen beyond the autumn in terms of hosting, but if Colin does want the job, he is in the right place to show why he should get it,” Yorkshire Live reported.
