THE funeral of a tattoo artist who was stabbed to death in Co Down is due to take place on Monday.

Aidan Mann (28) was attacked in Church Street in Downpatrick on Monday morning.

Originally from Bangor, Mr Mann had just left his flat when he was attacked.

The funeral details were shared by Sailors and Scoundrels Tattoo Parlour in Newtownards, where Mr Mann, also known as Zen Black, had been working.

The post said they wanted to let Aidan’s friends know when the funeral was as "there’s so many peoples lives he had such a huge impact on that would like to show their respects".

The service for immediate family only will be held at S Clarke & Sons funeral directors in Bangor at 10.30am.

However, the notice said that people are welcome to go along and say goodbye and that "there will be a live stream so everyone outside can watch".

It added that the service "would be a celebration of all the good things he stood for".

Mr Mann will be buried at Clandeboye Cemetery alongside his grandmother.

An online fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of the funeral has so far raised more than £6,700.

The JustGiving page described Mr Mann as "one of the most interesting, caring and passionate humans about".

On Wednesday, Barry Donnelly, who lived on Church Street, appeared by videolink at Newtownards Magistrates Court charged with the murder.

He is also charged with possessing offensive weapons, described in court as two large kitchen knives.
