AN award-winning photographer has spoken about his neighbour Aidan Mann and how his motorbike was his "pride and joy".

Bobbie Hanvey, whose photographic career has spanned almost 50 years, lived beside the 28-year-old murder victim in Downpatrick.

Mr Hanvey (76), who has captured a diverse range of people and places, took a poignant photo of Mr Mann's beloved motorbike, which he parked outside his flat on Church Street in the town on Sunday night.

The following day, Mr Mann, who was originally from Bangor, was stabbed and killed on the street near his home.

Speaking to The Irish News, Mr Hanvey described Mr Mann as a "nice young fella".

"He did his own thing and went about his own business. He was a lovely young man," he said.

"He was a very mannerly young man. He moved to Downpatrick because the accommodation was cheaper here.

"His bike was his pride and joy He parked it out on Church Street. He parked it there every night. The bike is sitting there like his headstone."
