The public are being invited to follow a trail of cryptic markers around Belfast to discover the "rich mix of arts, culture, food, drink and fun" on offer.

The Ogham Grove, which is part of Culture Night Belfast, allows you to "explore our relationship with our native woodland and environment through a totally innovative and spectacular artwork".

Taking inspiration from the Celtic Ogham Tree Alphabet an immersive sculpture is to be created within Writer’s Square as the centre piece to a trail of cryptic markers distributed throughout the Cathedral Quarter.

Plaques etched with one of the 25 Ogham characters and QR codes will be strategically placed.

These will link artistic landmarks and enable visitors to find their own way through the Cathedral Quarter, as they attempt to crack a secret code and discover the rich mix of arts, culture, food, drink and fun on offer.

The Ogham Grove, which will run from Friday, September 17 to Sunday, September 19, has been created and delivered by a partnership headed by Gawain Morrison, featuring the work of Neil Beattie and Dylan McCaughtry.

Speaking about the event, Gawain Morrison said: "We want people to be overwhelmed day and night.

"The actual scale of the structure itself will be impressive, the fact that these shapes and forms are there in maybe a way that haven’t been seen should also be stimulating and then the night time whenever you have the lighting really coming alive then it’ll have a completely different feel, but something to be remembered," he said.
