PEOPLE looking to escape for a few days over Easter are being invited to a book a spot at an unlikely caravan park - in the grounds of a primary school.

John Paul II PS in west Belfast is throwing open its site over the holiday period.

Perched high above Belfast, it has beautiful panoramic views of the Castlereagh Hills, Scrabo Tower, Stormont, the Mournes and Titanic Quarter, with Black Mountain serving as a dramatic backdrop.

With holidays abroad ruled out for the foreseeable future, the school is offering people an affordable alternative close to home.

Principal Raymond Hunter said there is expected to be high demand from caravan and motor home owners for pitches in scenic places over Easter.

"In order to help ease the additional pressure on caravan parks, John Paul II Primary School on the Whiterock Road in Belfast is now taking bookings from those who wish to enjoy a vacation closer to home," he said.

"We have decided to open our grounds for up to 30 pitches at a special rate of £20 per night."

Facilities include toilets and wash basins and an outdoor bar (collection only), with several local shops, a chemist, off-licence and takeaway fast food outlets nearby.

"What a perfect getaway - yet still only minutes from your home," Mr Hunter said.

"Bookings can be made by calling 9032 0565 or find us on our website: catchyourselfon.com."
