Four women stabbed in north Belfast as two women arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Four women were stabbed and a man injured during an incident in north Belfast this morning which police are treating as attempted murder.

Two women, aged 26 and 27, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police said that just after 2am it was reported that a woman had been stabbed and a man attacked in York Street. When officers arrived the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) was treating two women who reported having suffered stab injuries. Two other women, one aged in her twenties and the other in her teens, were taken to hospital. A man in his twenties had also sustained a minor hand injury.
