A NORTH Dublin pub that has long-been a favoured watering hole for GAA fans is to be demolished to make way for apartments.

Quinn's in Drumcondra, in the shadow of Croke Park, has served its last orders before the wrecking ball flattens the iconic building.

The pub has been serving thirsty GAA fans on their way to big games for more than three decades.

But planning permission is being sought for the demolition of the pub and surrounding buildings to make way for 50 apartments, including 33 one-bedroom units and six two-bedroom units as well as retail space.

A decision on the application is expected to be made by Dublin City Council later this year.

Another famous GAA pub, the Big Tree Tavern, down the road from Quinn's on Dorset Street, closed its doors in 2018 and is currently being redeveloped into a hotel.
