Two men arrested following Lagmore crossbow attack

TWO men have been arrested following an incident involving a crossbow in the Lagmore area of Dumurry.

A Skoda car was vandalised, with windows smashed, during the altercation between a number of men in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the scene and arrested two men, aged 33 and 46 years. There were unconfirmed reports that one man may have been hit in the leg with a crossbow during the incident.

Sinn Féin councillor Danny Baker condemned the attack saying it was "a very worrying incident and I would appeal with anyone with information to come forward".

"Our health service is under immense pressure and an incident like this could have resulted in a life lost."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Following an altercation in the Lagmore Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Tuesday, 29 December, police have arrested two men aged 33 and 46.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident. Both men remain in police custody at this time."
