A Co Derry singer-songwriter has said she is "beyond thrilled" after she was announced as a new presenter on BBC Radio 1.

Gemma Bradley, who is from Draperstown, joined BBC Radio Ulster last year as host of Across The Line, a weekly show dedicated to introducing new musical talent.

She will now make her debut on BBC Radio 1 next year as part of a raft of changes being introduced by new BBC Radio 1 Head of Station, Aled Haydn Jones.

While Greg James will continue to host the breakfast show, the station will also welcome five new presenters across the schedule including Gemma who is to become the new host of BBC Music Introducing.

"It’s a dream come true," she said.

"I am a massive fan of the BBC Introducing show, hosted by Huw and I am so honoured to have the opportunity to work on this iconic show."

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of BBC Radio 1 said it was a "really exciting time" for the station.
