THE mother of three children found dead at their home in Co Dublin has appeared in court charged with their murder.

Deirdre Morley (43) appeared before Dublin's Criminal Courts of Justice after she was arrested on three counts of murder on Tuesday.

The bodies of nine-year-old Conor, seven-year-old Darragh and three-year-old Carla McGinley were discovered at their home at Parsons Court in Newcastle, west Dublin, at around 7.45pm last Friday.

Ms Morley, who was found in the street in a disoriented state, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment following the discovery of the bodies.

Wearing a blue cardigan and black top, Ms Morley did not speak during yesterday's brief hearing.

Garda Detective Sergeant Dara Kenny from Clondalkin garda station confirmed that she was charged with murder at 6pm on Tuesday.

She made no reply to the charges, the court was told.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Dunphy requested that she is afforded medical treatment while in custody.

Mr Dunphy asked for continued psychiatric treatment and assessment.

Judge Paula Murphy made an order in relation to this. An application for legal aid was also granted.

Ms Morley was remanded in custody to appear again before Dublin District Court on Wednesday, February 5.

The children's father Andrew McGinley said on Wednesday "every breath is a struggle" following the children's deaths.

In a statement he said: "Conor, Darragh and Carla are adored. They all had beautiful, bright futures ahead of them with family, friends and a community who love them."
