Polling company accurately predicted parties' vote share

A NORTHERN Ireland polling company accurately predicted the main parties' vote share.

Belfast-based LucidTalk said yesterday its vote share predictions were 99 per cent accurate.

It forecast the Alliance's rise to become the third-largest party, behind the DUP and Sinn Féin.

The company's polling suggested the DUP would win 32 per cent of the vote. The party's actual result was 31.6 per cent.

LucidTalk predicted Sinn Féin's vote share would be 25 per cent. The party actually polled 23.6 per cent.

The company's prediction of a 17 per cent vote share for the Alliance was almost identical to the actual 17.4 per cent result.

In forecasts published in The Irish News on Monday, the company predicted the SDLP's Claire Hanna would take the South Belfast seat.

It also accurately predicted a Sinn Féin win in Fermanagh & South Tyrone.
