FIVE takeaways in Northern Ireland have been named as finalists in the British Takeaway Awards (BTAs)

Browns Fish & Chips at Woodburn Crescent and Feeley’s Fish & Chips on the Shaws Road in the west of the city are among those who have made it to the final along with Chaska on Forthill Street in Enniskillen, Nonnas Wood Fired Pizza on Spencer Road in Derry and Rocket Chip on Longstone Street in Lisburn.

Five finalists have been picked from each of the 12 regions around Britain and Northern Ireland and they will now battle it out to be named Best Takeaway in Britain at the BTAs at The Savoy Hotel in London in January.

Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriot and Sarah Willingham, entrepreneur and former star of Dragon’s Den, are among the judges who will be selecting the winner.

The 12 regional winners will be chosen by the judging panel who will take into consideration the number of votes each finalist received, feedback from a mystery shop, and by reviewing a written submission from the restaurant owners.

The panel will then crown an overall winner.

As well as winning the accolade of best takeaway, each regional winners will receive £1,000 and the Best Takeaway in Britain will receive £5,000.
