THE funeral of a teenage GAA player killed after a weekend car crash will take place tomorrow.

Ryan Mahoney, from Augher in Co Tyrone, died after a collision on the Clanabogan Road in Omagh at around 8.25pm on Sunday.

His funeral Mass is due to take place at St Macartan’s Church, Augher, which is also known as ‘The Forth Chapel’, at noon tomorrow.

The teenager’s death has stunned the community where his family is well known.

The 17-year-old played football for Gael Naomh Padraig, which is a combined underage team involving his own club Augher St Macartans and neighbouring Clogher Eire Og.

His brother Jamie is a senior player with the Augher club.

The teenager was a passenger in a black Audi car which collided head on with a white Mercedes.

A man and two women who were also travelling in the Audi and a woman who was driving the other vehicle were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
