TRIBUTES have been paid to a Co Tyrone man who died suddenly at the weekend.

Denver ‘Deni’ Chambers (40) is believed to have collapsed while attending a party at a friend's house in the Stewart Avenue area of Cookstown on Saturday morning.

A post-mortem examination has been inconclusive and police said they are awaiting the results of further toxicology reports.

Mr Chambers was well known in the town and had been a member of local loyal orders.

UUP councillor Trevor Wilson said the area is stunned by his death.

“It’s very sad,” he said.

“I know the family personally and it’s a terrible, terrible tragedy.

“The town is in a state of shock (at the) tragic and sudden death of a young fellow. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.”

The Tyrone Somme Memorial Association also offered its “sincere condolences” to the dead man’s family after the “tragic and premature death of our friend Deni Chambers”.

“May God bless and comfort you all at this sad time,” it said.

PSNI Chief Inspector Roy Robinson said police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time," he said.

“A post mortem examination has taken place. However the cause of death remains inconclusive and we are awaiting the results of further toxicology reports.”
