A 14-YEAR-OLD boy suffered a gash to the back of his head after being hit with a bottle in Belfast city centre.

The teenager sustained injuries to his face and head in the assault which happened in the High Street area on Easter Sunday at about 9.20pm.

PSNI sergeant Nathan Stewart said the boy was "struck by what we believe was a bottle and taken to hospital where he was treated for a gash to the back of his head".

He appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact officers at Lisburn Road police station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1042 of 16/4/17, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
