A 73-YEAR-OLD cyclist found injured at the side of a Co Derry road may have been knocked down, police have said.

Passing motorists found the man lying on Shore Road, close to the junction of Oaklea Road, Ballyronan, at around 10.30am on Saturday.

Ambulance crews took the man to Antrim Area Hospital where he was in a stable condition on Sunday.

Medics later called police to say that the man's injuries suggested he may have been hit by a vehicle.

Police are investigating how the man sustained his injuries.

The cyclist was wearing a white and black top, cycling shorts, a gun metal grey helmet, black and lime green gloves, silver rimmed glasses and white cycle shoes.

Officers appealed to anyone who was travelling on the Shore Road on Saturday morning to contact them on 101.
