A HANDBAG and other items were stolen after the thief smashed the window of car parked at a Co Tyrone cemetery last night.

The passenger window of the car was smashed at the Ardboe Cross graveyard in Cookstown at around 7.30pm.

A police spokesperson said that they have appealed for the local community to come forward with any information.

"Help us stop these criminals, as this is despicable when people are visiting their loved ones final resting place," they said.

The theft follows a similiar incident in Newtownabbey on Friday, when a handbag was stolen from a car parked at Carnmoney Cemetery.
