A HANDBAG was stolen after the thief smashed the window of a car parked in a cemetery this morning.

The brown handbag was stolen at around 11.30am this morning after the car window was smashed in Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey

The thief made off on foot in the direction of O'Neill road.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 101 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Investigating officer, Sergeant Arnie O'Neill appealed to be more cautious with their property.

"I would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to remain vigilant and report all suspicious activity. Where possible, always park your car in line of sight and keep valuables hidden."
