A driver in his 30s has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Co Fermanagh.

It comes as another man in his 20s was killed in a crash in Co Monaghan on Thursday morning, while an evening crash was reported on the A2 between Belfast and Bangor, Co Down.

Police received a report shortly after 6pm on Wednesday of a collision involving a white Ford Connect van and a white Peugeot Partner van on the Clones Road, Newtownbutler.

A PSNI spokesperson said the driver of the Ford van was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man in his 20s was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

“An investigation is ongoing, and officers would ask anyone with any information, or who may have dash-cam or mobile phone footage available, to get in contact on 101, quoting reference number 1625 08/05/24.”

Meanwhile, a man in his 20s was killed in an early morning crash on Thursday in Co Monaghan.

The collision at Moneygorbet in Castleblaney involved a car and a van and happened at around 6.15am.

Gardaí said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the vehicle, another man in his 20s, and the driver of the van, a man in his 50s, were taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday evening it was confirmed that no-one was taken from the scene of a crash on the A2 road between Belfast and Bangor by ambulance.

The collision happened on Thursday afternoon near Holywood, and a spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said an emergency crew arrived at the scene along with the Charity Air Ambulance.

“No patients were taken from the scene to hospital,” they added.
