Four men arrested on suspicion of terrorism-related offences in connection with security alerts in Dungiven have been released by police.

The men - two aged 55, one aged 35 and one aged 22 - were detained on Monday.

Two security alerts were sparked in the Co Derry town on Saturday, after dissident group Arm na Poblachta claimed to have targeted PSNI vehicles.

Police confirmed a viable device was found at Curragh Road on Sunday, and urged people to be vigilant over claims of a second device in the area.

The four men were released on Tuesday following questioning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and anyone that could help with ongoing enquiries into the investigation is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1210 24/02/23.”
