STRANMILLIS University College in Belfast is launching a wide range of spring lifelong learning courses from history to bird-watching and wine tasting.

These fresh spring mornings are the perfect backdrop to `Stran's' famous Hidden History Walking Tours.

Resident historian Dr Eamon Phoenix explores the rich history of south Belfast - including the iconic Friar's Bush Famine Graveyard - while he and Jim McDermott chart the industrial, political and cultural landmarks of west Belfast.

Co Down historian Plunkett Campbell re-visits the linen houses of the Bann Valley.

There are a host of guided coach tours to historical sites including Dublin 1916 and Georgian Dublin.

For political history buffs Dr Phoenix explores Reconciliation in Modern Ireland while Dr Stephen Goss examines the north's secret history during the Cold War. And archaeologist, Dr Ruairi O’Baoill probes `what lies beneath' in central Belfast.

For naturalists, ornithologist and poet Dr Mary Montague will lead a series of Summer Evening Bird Walks while there are courses on Irish wild flowers, wine appreciation, painting, holiday Spanish, painting, Tai-Chi and much more.
