AN Irish soldier has died in a skydiving incident in Spain.
The incident occurred while the soldier was off-duty and taking part in the parachute jump in his free time, the Republic's Department of Defence has confirmed.
The soldier, who was not named on Sunday evening, is reported to have also been an accomplished GAA player and musician.
It was also reported that the soldier was training to become a skydiving instructor in a personal capacity.
A Department of Defence spokesperson said of the tragedy: "More details will follow when all family members have been informed."
