Two more people have been arrested in relation to a public order incident in Co Kerry, bringing the total to eight people detained as part of the Garda investigation.

The incident took place at a hotel in Killarney on New Year’s Day, resulting in four people being taken to hospital.

Two men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested on Tuesday morning and are being detained at Killarney garda station.

Four people were treated in hospital following multiple stabbings at a Kerry hotel housing asylum seekers.

Six ambulances and a large number of gardai attended the scene of the disturbance at the hotel, which houses approximately 400 people in direct provision.

All of the injured were taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee for treatment.

In October, it emerged Ukrainian women and children who arrived in the country in March were staying in the direct provision accommodation but it was planned to move them to Co Mayo.

Following local protests alternative accommodation was found in the Co Kerry town.
