Harry Potter star Toby Jones has joined the cast of `Faith Healer' at this year's Lughnasa FrielFest: Brian Friel International Festival.

The festival yesterday announced that the 51-year-old, who has starred in a host of films including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, had joined the show for three special performed readings from August 17-19.

The actor, who is also a celebrated star of theatre and TV, has been confirmed for the role of `Teddy'. He will perform alongside Rory Kinnear, famous for his roles in Spectre and Quantam of Solace, who will take on the role of `Frank' and Laura Donnelly, who starred in The Fall and Outlander, who will play 'Grace'.

In the course of four monologues the story unfolds of the travelling healer Frank who has gone all over Wales and Scotland with his wife Grace, and his manager Teddy.

In their respective monologues, Frank, Grace and Teddy tell their differing versions of the healer's performance and of a terrible event that slowly comes into focus.

The play will be presented in promenade fashion with the audience travelling by bus between the four acts in four different village halls in Co Donegal from Edininfagh, Portnoo, Ardara and Glenties with an interval barbecue on Portnoo Pier.

Sean Doran, co-curator of Lughnasa FrielFest, said: "It is a testament to the legacy of Brian Friel, the greatest Irish playwright of the late 20th century and the beauty and dramatic resonance of Donegal that we have managed to attract such incredible artists to this year's festival.

"This is indeed a rare opportunity to see a fantastic combination of West End and Hollywood actors in an intimate setting, performing work which still speaks to us, decades after its initial publication"
