THE funeral is due to take place today of an eight-year-old boy killed in a road crash in Co Down.

Family and friends of Callum Morrow from Lurgan, Co Armagh, are expected to gather to say their final farewells to the schoolboy following his tragic death on Saturday.

It is understood Callum was travelling with his father Stephen and six-year-old brother James when the two-car collision happened on the Aughnacloy Road.

They are believed to have been returning home from a day trip to Newcastle. He died at the scene.

The young boy was a pupil at Carrick Primary School and had just recently celebrated his First Holy Communion.

In a death notice, his heartbroken family said: "We will always cherish our beautiful memories of Callum, loved and missed by his parents, brother, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins and entire family circle".

Requiem Mass for Callum is due to take place at St Peter's Church, Lurgan today at 10.30am followed by burial afterwards in St Colman’s Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents Mandy and Stephen, brother James and family circle.
