A Co Tyrone college has said it will do "everything" it can to support pupils after the sudden death of a young student.

Elle Trowbridge, who was in Year 12 at Drumragh Integrated College in Omagh, died on Monday.

The teenager, who had a passion for horses and was a member of the Drumragh Showjumpers, lived in Killyclogher.

Pupils and staff are expected to come together today (FRI) with the teenager's family for her funeral.

Described as "an absolute pleasure to be around", Nigel Frith, principal of Drumragh Integrated College, said Elle's sudden death had been "devastating" for the school community.

"We will do everything we can to ensure that every pupil is properly supported," he said.

"We will be talking to them, to let them know that we are here for them and to ensure they feel safe. This is devastating for the school".

Mr Frith said it was "the second tragedy like this that we have had here in this school year".

Elle's death comes six months after the sudden death of former student, Clare McSorley, who was 18 and from Omagh. The Co Tyrone GAA player died in November.

Mr Frith added: "We must pull together as a school and as a community.

"It's a very strange world we live in today and sometimes we do not always know or understand the pressures that teenagers and young people are under".

Meanwhile, friends of the teenager took to social media to express their loss.

One friend wrote: "Rest easy Elle, you were truly loved by all and not a day will go by you won't be missed, you'll always be with me like a handprint on my heart. For anyone who feels like they can't deal with life no more or its to much for you, I'm always just a text message away, don't sit and built it up, talk to somebody, it can honestly help".

Another added: "Elle, you truly were one of a kind. My heart is breaking even more writing this, the fact I'll never see that beautiful cheeky smile or hear that infectious wee giggle you had again absolutely crushes me.

Requiem Mass for Elle will take place today (FRI) at 10am at St Mary's Church, Killyclogher. Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
