A CO Down teenager has appeared in court accused of throwing a petrol bomb at a police station.

Appearing in the dock of Banbridge Magistrates Court, sitting in Newry, 19-year-old Conor Vincent McShane confirmed that he understood the single charge against him.

McShane, from Scarva Walk in Banbridge, is accused of throwing a petrol bomb at Banbridge PSNI station on July 17 this year "with intent to cause the destruction of or damage to" the police station.

While the facts surrounding the charge were not opened in court, a police officer testified that he believed he could connect McShane to the charge.

A prosecuting lawyer asked for the case to be adjourned for a "full file" to be prepared, adding that there was cctv footage from the station was still outstanding.

Releasing McShane on his own bail of £200, Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers ordered the teenager to come back to court on September 22.
