A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with rape in connection with an attack on a woman at Peatlands Park outside Dungannon last Wednesday.

The man is due to appear at Omagh Magistrates Court on Monday, May 2.

The man was arrested by detectives from the PSNI Rape Crime Unit who are investigating what they have described as a "serious sexual assault" that took place around 2.45pm in the public park on April 27.

Detective Inspector Lynne Knox appealed for information.

"Police are pursuing all investigative lines of enquiry and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or observed anything suspicious to contact Detectives at the Rape Crime Unit on the non-emergency number 101.

"Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
