A 10-year-old boy who collapsed during a family visit to a seaside funfair died of natural causes, police have confirmed.

The boy, named locally as Bradley Logan from Lisburn, took ill at Pleasureland in Newcastle Co Down at around 3.30pm on Friday.

He had been visiting the outdoor adventure centre with a family group and had only recently returned from a holiday abroad.

The initial call to emergency services suggested that he had suffered a head injury, although witnesses at the popular funfair on the town's Central Promenade said the boy seemed to "just faint".

Yesterday, a PSNI spokeswoman said the police investigation had concluded and they were not treating the death as suspicious.

An ambulance and rapid response paramedic were called and the boy was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children where he died a short time later.

It is understood that Bradley Logan had been due to enter P7 at Harmony Hill primary school in a few weeks.

The sporty child received an award at the end of the year prize day for cricket, which he shared with another pupil. He also competed with the school's boy's hockey team.

The primary school is the same one that four-year-old Oliver Scullion, also from Lisburn and who died in an accident on Thusday, was due to start in September.

The Co Antrim town suffered the unexpected deaths of the two children just a day apart.

Independent unionist councillor Jenny Palmer said it was tragic news.

"(It has been a) dreadful few days where two young children have lost their lives in tragic circumstances," she said.
