Man beaten with bat in north Belfast

A 29-year-old man is recovering from injuries after being beaten with a wooden and metal bat in a flat in north Belfast.

At least two masked men entered the flat he was visiting at Queen Victoria Gardens just after 11pm on Friday.

The householders, a woman in her 30s and her two children, were not injured but left badly shaken.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detective Sergeant Michael Hawthorne appealed for information.
