Comber brewery Farmageddon to close

CO Down micro brewery Farmageddon has announced it is to close.

Based on a five-acre farm near Comber, the venture was originally launched a decade ago as a brewing co-op with seven members.

Its warthog logo became a familiar sight on beer taps in craft beer pubs around the north.

But in a statement on the company’s social media channels on Friday afternoon, Farmageddon confirmed the business is winding down due to “significant economic and personal challenges”.

The statement from directors Susan Jackson, Eoin Wilson and Mark Uprichard said: “After 10 years of trying to turn a love of brewing into a successful business, unfortunately we didn’t make it.

“The past few years have brought significant economic and personal challenges that have pushed us to make the decision to close our doors.

“Despite these challenges, we are incredibly proud of the work we have accomplished over the last decade.

“We have brewed some epic beer, got lots of folk merry and we have had the privilege of meeting some fantastic people along the way.

“We would like to thank you all once again for your loyalty and support over the years.”
