THE Kerrs Tyres Group has expanded into the motorcycle market by acquiring Tandragee business GM Tyres.

Set by Glenn McAllister, the Co Armagh motorcycle specialist operates from a base on Market Street in the town.

The Kerrs Group, which was founded by Norman Kerr in 2002, described the purchase as a strategic expansion as it works toward a goal of operating 35 points of sale by 2026.

The acquisition has made the company the third largest tyre provider on the island of Ireland.

The group currently operates 19 points of sale from 16 northern locations, alongside three in Dublin.

“This acquisition not only expands our product portfolio into motorcycle tyres, but also reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional quality and service to our valued customers,” said Kerrs group commercial manager, Richard Livingston.

He said customers can expect a seamless transition as GM Tyres is integrated into Kerrs’ operations.

Kerrs Tyres said it will retain all personnel from GM Tyres

“The combined expertise of both companies will result in a stronger, more versatile organization, well-equipped to address the diverse demands of the market,” said the company.

Commenting on the deal, Glenn McAllister said: “It has been an easy decision to pass my family business on to Kerr’s Tyres Group, a larger business that still retains those important values.”
