A phone app will offer punters around the north a free pint of beer during upcoming sports games.

Pub-finding app Fanzo said its first Northern Ireland campaign will include a free pint of Heineken at one of the 50 participating bars from this weekend.

The offer runs from April 1 to June 10 and will apply during broadcasts of all Champions League, Europa League and Heineken Champions Cup games.

Formerly known as MatchPint, Fanzo claims to have six million annual users.

Gemma Herdman from Craigavon-based United Wines, which handles Heineken’s sales and distribution the north, said: “Using the bar finder on the app, the best places to watch the big games that matter are right at your fingertips.

“You can book tables at your local, invite your mates and get the best seat in the house before sitting down to a mouth-watering free pint of Heineken.”
