Tyrone door-maker O&S in sales and profits surge

CO Tyrone door designer and manufacturer O&S Doors has reported a significant uplift in sales and profits as it consolidated its business across the UK.

The company, set up by entrepreneur Peter O’Donnell and which is based near Eglish, makes high-quality doors for kitchen cabinets and bedroom furniture.

Figures filed with Companies House show that its revenues in the year to December 31 last soared by 40 per cent from £32.1 million to £45.4 million.

And where once it attributed close to a quarter of those sales to Europe, principally the Republic, it said all its sales are now in the UK.

Bottom-line profit at O&S tripled from £1.1m to £3.3m, and retained earnings at the end of the trading year now sit at more than £16.5m.

The number of staff last year grew from 298 to 318, which added more than half a million pounds to its wages bill (up from £9.7m to £10.2m).

The two directors saw their combined sales fall from £707,884 to £568,257. The highest paid of the two earned £440,000 (down from £570,360 the year before).

The company had been force to shut down down its operations in early 2020 due to the pandemic, and its 2021 accounts showed that it availed of more than £80,000 in government grants under the furlough scheme.

O&S Doors, founded 25 years ago and which was acquired by private equity firm Sun European Partners in mid-2016, provides a wide variety of products from its 400,000 sq ft purpose built Tyrone production facility.
