LOCALLY-owned and operated nursing home company MD Healthcare, part of the Domestic Care Group established in 1993, has completed the takeover of Abbey View private nursing home in Bangor.

And the acquisition from MMCG, which has been approved by RQIA, will save the home from closure.

John Paul Watson from MD Healthcare said: "When we became aware that Abbey View was available for sale, we acted immediately to acquire it from MMCG, who had announced their intention to close the home.

"Abbey View has had a long and successful history of serving the people of Bangor, and MD Healthcare, which owns and operates six other care homes across Northern Ireland, will ensure that success continues.

"Being headquartered in Newtownards, our directors have a long association with Bangor. We now intend to refurbish Abbey View to our usual high standards and look forward to reopening to admissions in the near future."

He added: "Most importantly, we're delighted that Abbey View residents can now remain in their home, receiving care from the dedicated staff they know so well.

"We look forward to meeting and working with all of our new residents, their families and our new colleagues."

Domestic Care Group provides homecare services, nursing homecare services, care homes and community meals throughout the north.
