THE husband and wife owners of Shed Bistro on Belfast’s Ormeau Road have invested £150,000 to expand the premises.

And as well as protecting 12 current roles, it will create eight new posts and provide aspiring chefs with apprenticeship opportunities.

Jonny and Christina Taylor, who have 15 years experience in the hospitality sector, made the move despite pressures on the sector over the last seven months and the closure of all sit-in establishments for the second time this year.

Shed Bistro will take over the retail unit next door, more than doubling the size of its kitchen and floor space in the restaurant, and increasing its seating capacity and facilities.

Christina Taylor, owner and front of house manager at the bistro said: “It's been a tough few months for our whole industry, so we are proud not only to sustain our business, but to grow Shed.

“We couldn’t have done it without our dedicated team and our loyal customers who gave us the drive and determination to overcome the challenges, so we want to thank them all for their support.”

Shed Bistro had previously planned to relaunch at the end of this month, but is now hoping to open its doors to the public again on Sunday November 15.

Christina added: “Our new layout will allow us to provide an even more effective socially distant dining experience, so guests can feel comfortable and relaxed when they visit us.

“We can’t wait to show everyone what we have done with the place and welcome everyone back to the new and improved Shed Bistro.”
