FOUR winners from the north were among those celebrated at the prestigious Georgina Campbell Awards 2019.

Ireland’s longest-running independent food and hospitality awards were held earlier this week at Bord Bia in Dublin, with Northern Ireland businesses heavily represented.

Blackwell House in Scarva, Co Armagh won Guesthouse of the Year, while Dunnanelly Country House in Crossgar, Co Down picked up the Hideaway of the Year accolade.

The Walled City Brewery in Derry was recognised with the Atmospheric Restaurant of the Year and Ronan and Jennie Sweeney of the Balloo Inns group received the ‘Hospitality Hero’ award. The pair own and manage the award-winning Balloo House in Killinchy, The Poacher’s Pocket in Lisbane and The Parson’s Nose in Hillsborough.

Speaking about the award, Ronan Sweeney said they were very grateful to receive the unexpected recognition.

"It is continually an enjoyable journey honing our offering to the highest possible standard and working with fantastic suppliers to serve the finest locally-sourced food across the all three of our dining pubs.

“We share this accolade with our talented and motivated 120 strong-team across the Balloo Inns Group and want to thank them for all their support, hard work and contribution.”

Co Limerick resort Adare Manor was named Hotel of the Year for 2019.
