A TOTAL of 25 new jobs have been created as part of a multi-million pound investment at a Co Tyrone hotel.
The Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh has just completed a major £3.5 million refurbishment in a bid to increase its share of the business event and wedding markets and due to the popularity of the new facilities an additional 25 full and part-time positions have been created.
The two-year, three phase renovation, supported by Danske Bank, included an extension and complete refurbishment of the existing business centre and the construction of a new two storey event space.
External features of the hotel such as landscaping and parking have also been upgraded.
The family-run business currently employs 120 staff and will celebrate 40 years in business later this year.
Hotel owner Allan Duncan said the investment has breathed "new life" into the hotel.
"We knew in order for us to remain as popular as ever with our customers, we needed to invest and keep modernising the hotel.
“Our previous event space was dated, had a limited capacity and was in need of renovating. We completely demolished the space and started again, creating a two floor event space. The ground floor level is our new event space for private hire and can hold up to 700 guests. The first floor banqueting suite can cater for weddings and dinners for up to 400 guests. This makes it one of the largest venue spaces for hire in the local area and will help us cater for large wedding parties."
