ABBEY Insurance Brokers has opened a new branch in Enniskillen, creating 10 jobs in the process.

It is the first outlet in Fermanagh for the company which earlier this year took over rival Open + Direct.

The group now has 23 branches across the north and employs around 400 people.

Abbey Group chief executive Trevor Shaw described the latest opening as a "great development".

"As a company we consistently aim to be local, wherever we are, and by moving into Fermanagh we are doing just that. I myself am from Fermanagh and it is a pleasure to bring the Abbey family to my home county and introduce what we do to the community here," he said.

“Currently, one in every five cars in Northern Ireland is insured by Abbey, and we wanted to bring that level of trust and assurance to the people of Fermanagh.

But car insurance isn’t all Abbey does – we are experts in home, van, travel, motorbike and taxi insurance too. We are an insurance broker, which means we search from a range of insurance companies to find our customers the best deals, saving them time, and money."

The new premises, based on Townhall Street, will be led by newly appointed branch manager, Emma McGoldrick.
