Retro fans were left reeling rather than rocking, with the announcement that Let’s Rock Northern Ireland musical festival in Bangor has been cancelled.

Organisers of the popular retro music event, that was due to take place on August 5 at Ward Park, said the upcoming gig was cancelled due to "logistical issues”.

Derry rock band The Undertones were amongst the acts due to perform, as well as The Boomtown Rats, Kim Wilde, Soft Cell, Midge Ure, Go West and Nik Kershaw.

A statement on their website reads: "We were all looking forward to Let’s Rock Northern Ireland, but unfortunately this event cannot go ahead as planned.

"Due to logistical issues beyond our control, we sadly have to cancel this event.

"All customers will receive a full face value refund from the vendor where you purchased your tickets, details will be emailed to the address you registered when buying your tickets."

Last year's Lets Rock festival proved a hit in Bangor’s Ward Park, with a 12-000-strong crowd singing along to performances by Adam Ant, Heaven 17, Wet Wet Wet, T’Pau, Belinda Carlisle, Sister Sledge and many more.

Whilst Lets Rock events are still due to take place in locations throughout the UK in 2023, including Leeds, Southampton and Exeter.

Disgruntled and confused ticket holders took to social media, describing the news as “absolutely appalling and very disappointing”.

Let’s Rock later clarified how the public can claim a refund for their tickets, saying: “Should you require help or have not received that email please contact the ticketing team directly on customerservices@gigantic.com quoting your booking reference details”.
