Music Scene: Snakehips' new single is right on the Money

Oliver Lee and James Carter, AKA Snakehips – could be the sound of the summer
Oliver Lee and James Carter, AKA Snakehips – could be the sound of the summer

CHECK out the new track from Snakehips if you fancy a very cool rap jam to fill your car on a sunny drive. The weather may not be willing to play along but Money On Me from Snakehips is a beautiful, breezy, infectious hip-hop tune that is a total joy from start to finish.

Ever see those nodding dogs that people sometimes position on their rear window parcel shelf ? That's what you'll look like after you give this a few plays.

The sound is distinctly West Coast America but Snakehips are actually an English Urban act featuring the talents of Oliver Lee and James Carter – you may be familiar with their recent hit All My Friends.

Money On Me might just be the first summer anthem of 2016.

RED ALERT

RED Hot Chilli Peppers' new album is almost cooked and ready to be served. The band have apparently been going through a highly prolific phase and have found themselves in possession of an embarrassment of riches in terms of what tracks will make the final cut.

They are now at the stage of deciding which 10 or 11 songs will be included in the latest chapter of their illustrious story. The new studio album may not be released in time for their upcoming Tennents Vital show but no doubt Belfast will be treated to at least some of the new material in a live setting.

VINYL COUNTDOWN

I'M LOVING the Sky Atlantic series Vinyl – produced by none other than Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese. The music industry drama which is set in the hedonistic 70s New York scene is stunning, as is the soundtrack and now the first accompanying album is now available.

Tracks are included from the likes of Chris Cornell , Julian Casablancas, Charlie Wilson, royal Blood and Trey Songz. Best track on the record though is the supreme sound of Iggy Pop's I Dig Your Mind.

Thankfully the album does this brilliant TV show justice – here's hoping we get a few volumes to devour.

SPEARS SHARPENED

BRITNEY Spears's new album is a fortnight away from lighting up your fife. The one-time pop princess has taken time out from her ongoing Las Vegas residency to actually record some new music and has been working with a variety of 'hip' producers who are tasked with shaping what will be her ninth (yes ninth!) album.

Britney is said to be raring to go with her new high-tech sound and is aiming for chart domination again.

A new single is expected to appear online next week. Bet you can't wait.
