Down camogie sponsorship deal shows we're being treated more seriously: Catherine McGourty

DOWN camogie player Catherine McGourty has welcomed the new sponsorship deal with locally based engineering firm CM Precision Components Ltd and believes it's a sign of how "more seriously" the Mourne camogs are being taken taken following their All-Ireland exploits.

CM Precision Components Ltd is a leading supplier of precision engineered components within the UK and Ireland. With over 30 years of experience, they pride themselves on quality components. CM precision offer a range of services from a unique order to a production run incorporating “Kan-Ban” stock control.

"It’s great to have the financial backing from a county Down company," said Ballycran camog McGourty.

"Over the past couple of years we’ve been taken a bit more seriously after winning the Intermediate All-Ireland Championship and now competing at senior level people look at us seriously and we’re delighted that Kieran [Cooper], his partner and CM Precision have come on board with us and we are proud to have his sponsor on the front of our jerseys”.

At the new jersey launch at CM Precision HQ in Downpatrick, Director Kieran Cooper said: "We have always prided ourselves on taking an active part in our community and this sponsorship for us is a major step forward. We are delighted to have this opportunity to promote ourselves, our town and our county. It is wonderful to see these young ladies, who are competing at the highest level of their sport and we are urging everybody in the county to come out and support them this season."

Down Senior Camogs have two teams competing this year, the seniors in Division 1B and the juniors in Division 3B.

The seniors begin their league campaign on Saturday February 18 away to neighbours Antrim, while the junior team face Clare the following Saturday.

As part of the partnership, CM Precisions name and logo will appear on the front and back of the new Down Senior Camogie jerseys.
