BRENDAN Rodgers has stressed that Albion Rovers have been getting Celtic's full attention ahead of their William Hill Scottish Cup clash on Sunday.

The high-flying Hoops are odds on to beat the League One part-timers in their fourth-round tie at Airdrie's ground.

Celtic are unbeaten domestically, 19 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership and with the Betfred Cup already in the trophy room after their Hampden Park win over Aberdeen in November.

However, Rodgers, who described his squad's trip to Dubai in the winter break as "very worthwhile", will give the Coatbridge side the same respect they give to any opponent.

The Northern Irishman said: "Every single game we have played this season, whether it is Barcelona or Alloa, we have always prepared with the same intensity and the same detail and this will be no different.

"We monitored them before the break, when we knew who we had and we have done all our reports, looking at how they play and of course, it is on neutral ground.

"But no, the preparation doesn't change.

"The minute it does, that's when you have a problem.

"So as a coaching team we need to ensure that every aspect of the game is covered so we can give the players enough confidence to go out and do the job and enjoy the game.

The former Swansea and Liverpool boss has great respect for the Scottish Cup and insists his side are raring to go in the second half of the season.

He said: "When I was growing up you had the FA Cup and the Scottish Cup, games you always looked out for.

"The Scottish Cup has a wonderful history, a great tradition and again, another competition that we want to do well in.

"The rest and freshness will really help us.

"We had a tough game against Alloa earlier in the season and Albion Rovers are from the same league so it will be equally as tough.

"We will be ready for Sunday."
