BUBBA WATSON beat Paul Casey in a sudden death play-off to win the Travellers Championship in Connecticut on Sunday.

The pair both parred the first play-off hole, the 18th, but second time around Casey found all sorts of trouble while Watson holed for birdie from eight-feet.

Earlier, the pair could not be separated after 72 holes of regulation play. Casey had started the day two shots behind Watson and three behind overnight leader Brian Harman, but while Harman failed to get any early momentum, two-times US Masters winner Watson made a blistering start with birdies at the first two holes.

Casey parred his first two holes of his final round but sparked into life when he holed his 126-yard approach to the third for eagle. He followed that with birdie at eight to get within one shot of Watson, who followed his two early gains with 10 straight pars.

The American looked to have made a decisive move, though, when he holed from 39-feet for his own eagle at 13 to move three clear but almost simultaneously Casey birdied 14 from six-feet to get back to two behind.

He looked to have blown his chance when he bogeyed the next, but bounced back straight away with birdies from six and 15 feet on 16 and 17 respectively, before a fine up and down from the bunker set a clubhouse target of 16-under par. Watson joined him on 16-under when he bogeyed 17 and he couldn't manage to find the birdie he needed at the last for a regulation win
