Women's marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe has criticised Nike after reports the company had agreed a sponsorship deal with Justin Gatlin. The BBC said yesterday that Nike has re-signed the controversial American sprinter to the brand, despite the fact the 33-year-old has served two doping suspensions. Writing on Twitter, British athlete Radcliffe said: "I am very disappointed to hear this news. "I don't believe it truly reflects the core values of the Nike that I am proud to represent, nor the integrity and the ideals of the people I work with on a daily basis."

Press Association Sport contacted Nike for a response but was awaiting comment from the Oregon-based company, which lists some of the world's leading athletes, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Federer, Serena Williams and LeBron James, amongst its clients.
